What's the story?

BeatBlocs was founded in 2007 in Bristol, UK by an independent collective consisting of Dan Berridge, Chris Berridge and Nick Wheeler.

It was initially seen as a reaction to the abundance of low quality, generic Sample CD's and online Sample resources. In our work, we could see that professional music producers and beginners alike needed access to the most creatively innovative beat samples available and that the old Sample CD paradigm didn't (and couldn't) provide this service.

With the BeatBlocs' collective roots in the European IDM music scene and love for creative digital culture, we decided to establish a marketplace and community which would empower users to generate the most cutting-edge site content in a truly dynamic way. The first music production library with full UGC (User Generated Content).

This is currently BeatBlocs beta. In the pipeline for the full site version are extended Control Panel functions and profile networking facilities which will enable our vision of BeatBlocs as a networking hub for creative beat production.
